Interview with Christian Gratzke at EAU London, 2017.
Phytotherapy is very well received by patients, and undoubtedly has a place for many patients seeking out options in LUTS. These medications rely on individual experience, since generation of an evidence base in modern medicine demands substantial resources, and technical infrastructure. As a result, smaller pharmaceutical companies responsible for phytotherapy in Male LUTS can find delivery of large-scale trials an impossible demand. Thus, while this drug group does not have the evidence strength of the other medications, the lack of evidence cannot be taken to mean lack of efficacy. Christian Gratzke, Editor of European Urology Focus discusses the importance of phytotherapy, and the demands of generating evidence in modern healthcare.
